SITUATION
Beckers engaged with SenseNode in 2021. At that time, there was an interest in energy efficiency and a need for more reliable, efficient control of electricity consumption. There were problems with the existing system, which sometimes reset, and had difficulty to follow the desired schedules. The goal was clear: reduce electricity consumption and the company’s environmental impact.
SOLUTION
A total of 24 measuring points were installed across Becker’s various buildings and processes, providing a detailed and visual representation of electricity consumption in SenseNode Energy Analytics. By using SenseNode’s solution, Becker was able to reduce electricity consumption by 25%. This was achieved without significant investments, with measures such as switching to LED lighting, using timers for lighting, and raising awareness among employees to, for example, turn off equipment when not in use.

RESULT
Electricity consumption decreased significantly. The biggest difference in electricity consumption was getting the timing of the ventilation and VOC system right, which could now be made more time-efficient, and this stage without major investments. Investments in LED lighting and timers showed clear results, while employee awareness increased. Through SenseNode’s solution, Becker’s Energy Audit and ISO 50001 audit has been facilitated, as the system can easily show their energy efficiency, the measures they have taken and the results of these.
Beckers’ next step in becoming more energy-efficient will be to focus on heating, making some minor investments, and, above all, always keeping energy top of their minds in new investments and processes.
