When Quality Matters

Measurement and Data Collection

The energy efficiency work will not be better than the quality of the underlying energy data. Therefore, we use a combination of our own wireless meters as well as selected third-party meters. High accuracy and reliability are the keys.

We integrate to existing meters

If meters or data collection is already in place, we are happy to integrate with these. We support measurement protocols such as M-Bus and Modbus (RTU & TCP) and data transfer via OPC-UA.

All Energy Carriers Count

Energy comes in many forms and the overall picture is important. We provide both hardware and software to give a comprehensive picture of your energy use. Get in touch if your energy carrier is not in the list below.

Wireless Electricity Meter

The electric energy meter is as large as the palm of your hand and is easily mounted with the included bracket. The meter is wired to a three-phase group including a neutral conductor. The click-on current clamps are mounted on the cables to be measured. No communication cables are needed, the meter communicates wirelessly to the central unit. As the energy meter measures both voltage and current, true active energy is always measured.

Central Unit

The central unit is mains powered through a wall outlet. For the data collection to work, the central unit needs access to the internet via a wired network. If that is not possible due to long distances or internal security policies, the central unit can be equipped with a cellular network connection. For the collection of data from existing meters via M-Bus or Modbus, the central unit is equipped with addational interfaces.

Heat Quantity Meter

Our heat quantity meter is adapted to measure thermal energy in heating or cooling systems. The heat flow meter is designed to deliver reliable performance even under the most demanding conditions. Built-in temperature compensation ensures high accuracy and response at low flow rates, regardless of changing ambient conditions. This makes it a reliable solution for your energy measurement. Available in two variants, one that can handle the temperature range – 30 to 130 °C and one that can handle the range – 30 to 180 °C.

We Measure Energy For Real

The only way to measure energy is to measure both voltage and current and calculate the power according to power = voltage * current. In large industries these variables vary and reactive loads must be taken into account. Our meters handle this.

At SenseNode we know that the only way to measure electrical power and energy is by measuring both voltage and current. If you don't do that, you're just guessing.

FAQ

Contact us if you have other questions regarding measurement and data collection.

Is it difficult to install the electricity meters?

No, they require 3-phase and neutral conductors, the current is measured with click-on clamps that are easily attached to the cable to be measured.

What if the cables we want to measure are large diameter or if we want to measure on bus bars?

In such cases, we use current transformers that are adapted specifically for the measurement point in question.

What typically goes wrong when installing the electric energy meters?

The clamps have visible arrows to indicate which way they should be mounted. Even so, it is common for the clamps to face the wrong way.

Our loads are uneven and sometimes reactive. Won't the measurements be wrong?

Since we always measure both voltage and current, the measured power and energy are correct.

Can the heat quantity meters be installed during operation?

As these meters use external sensors, they are suitable for installation during operation.

We want to measure electrical energy on the high voltage side, is this possible?

In most cases this is not a problem. Get in touch with a SenseNode salesperson and we'll find a solution.
