FrontPac: "Energy Analytics gave us control over our energy use"

FrontPac is a Swedish manufacturer of corrugated and cardboard packaging. With roots dating back to 1982 and a current turnover of 400 million SEK, FrontPac is facing the challenge of balancing growth with electricity supply constraints.
Control on current load

FrontPac faced a critical challenge related to its electricity supply. With limited incoming power supply and some heavily loaded switchgear, the company was unsure of its ability to increase production and install new machinery. They needed a solution to plan production and grow efficiently without having to immediately invest in a costly new high-voltage switchgear.

Implementation and results

The implementation included the installation of metering equipment on incoming switchgear and solar panels. The installation was handled by FrontPac's own electricians.  

 

Data from Energy Analytics confirmed many of FrontPac's assumptions about its energy consumption, but also revealed critical peaks during short periods. This allowed the company to prevent overloads and optimize its energy use.  

 

A major benefit of the system was that it gave FrontPac a clear picture of its available power capacity. With this data, the company was able to plan for expanded production with a new machine without investing in a costly new high-voltage switchgear. FrontPac now has the information to make informed decisions about future investments based on actual energy use.

Cooperation and future plans

The collaboration with SenseNode has worked well, with regular meetings to analyze peaks and production patterns. These insights have given FrontPac a solid foundation for decisions on future machine installations and production planning.  

 

Going forward, FrontPac wants to examine energy consumption when production is stopped to reduce unnecessary use.
